Sao Bronze Cavaliers

Sao Bronze Cavaliers refer to a historical bronze figurine from the Sao culture (or their descendants, the Kotoko) of Chad and northern Cameroon, typically depicting a warrior on horseback, possibly used as a protective amulet against madness. These ancient figurines, often created using the lost-wax casting method, are characterized by a bronze patina, stylized horses, and tribal headdresses on the riders. While some Sao objects date back to the 12th-14th centuries, most surviving "cavalier" figures are more recent, from the 19th century or mid-20th century.
