“La Quimera” By Scott Ross

“La Quimera”

The title of this piece is Spanish for Chimera.  A Chimera in Greek mythology is a fire breathing female monster with a lion's head, a goat's body, and a serpent's tail. This piece was made while in residence at the American Museum of Ceramic Art in Pomona, CA and then woodfired in an angama style woodkiln for eight days in Northern California at Cobb Art and Ecology Project.  Like the Chimera, a being of different parts, this sculpture took different geographic locations to become a finished piece.
